While physical activity is great for many aspects of your health, it does put strain on a lot of areas of your body. Sports injuries are commonly seen in the shoulders, back, knees, and ankles. At our orthopedic center, our medical professionals have experience caring for patients of all ages and with all activity levels who suffer from sports injuries. Our goal is to create a treatment plan that is specific to the injury and the individual.
Some of the most commonly seen sports injuries include:
- Dislocations – These are most frequently seen in the elbow and shoulder. Fractures occur when the ends of the bones are forced out of their normal position.
- Fractures – These can occur anywhere and are a crack or break in the bone.
- Sprains – Sprains are most frequently seen in the ankle, but can occur anywhere. They are a stretched or torn ligament.
Our goal is to provide conservative treatments, such as rest, physical activity, ice therapy, bracing, compression, and activity modification. In many cases, this is enough for complete recovery from a sports injury. In cases of more severe injuries, surgery to repair the area is needed.
